Municipal offices closed February 17 for Family Day

The County of Prince Edward municipal offices will be closed on Monday, February 17 for the Family Day long weekend.

Offices will reopen on Tuesday, February 18 at 8:30 am.

 Garbage and recycling collection

  • Curbside garbage, green bin, and recycling pickup service will occur according to the regular schedule.
  • Environmental 360 Solutions and Quinte Waste Services remind residents to have their garbage, green bin, and properly sorted blue boxes out to the curb by 7 am to ensure pickup. Click here to view the recycling and garbage collection schedules.
  • The County’s landfill and transfer stations will be open regular hours on Saturday, February 15. Visit The County website for more information.

Free Family Day Activities

Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street)

  • Public skating will take place from 9 am – 3 pm (brought to you by the Wellington Recreation Committee)
  • Highline Hall Activities from 9 am – 3 pm:
  • Join the Wellington Rotary Club for games and reading programs with County Kids Read
  • Participate in the Prince Edward Lions Club family fun activities
  • Free soup and chili provided by the Wellington Rotary Club (11:30 am – 1 pm)
  • Visit the OPP, South Shore Joint Initiative, County Transit, Prince Edward County Libraries, and the County of Prince Edward booths in the lobby.

Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street)

  • Public skating will take place from 9 am – 3 pm (brought to you by the Prince Edward County Professional Firefighters Association Local 2745)

Making Memories at Macaulay (35 Church Street)

Join The County Museums at Macaulay House from 12 pm – 3 pm for Family Day fun.

  • Create a mini family photo album using book-binding techniques
  • Enjoy free cider and snacks by the hearth
  • Take a family hike through Macaulay Mountain
  • While admission is free, donations to The County Museums are appreciated.

Recreation Facilities

The Wellington and District Community Centre (WDCC) and The Prince Edward Community Centre (PECC) will be open regular hours throughout the holiday weekend.

Public skating is available on the following dates and times over the weekend:

  • WDCC (111 Belleville Street, Wellington):
    • Saturday, February 15: 6 pm – 7 pm
    • Sunday, February 16: 8 am – 9 am
    • Monday, February 17: 9 am – 3 pm
  • PECC (375 Picton Main Street):
    • Saturday, February 15: 1 pm – 2:30 pm
    • Sunday, February 16: 1 pm – 2:30 pm
    • Monday, February 17: 9 am – 3 pm

County Transit

County Transit will not operate on Monday, February 17.
