PECelebrates returns June 14 – July 1

PECelebrates, a celebration of community, cultures and Canada, will take place June 14 – July 1 across Prince Edward County.

PECelebrates features a variety of events and activities that mark National Indigenous History Month, National Indigenous Peoples Day, Pride Month, Canadian Multiculturalism Day, and Canada Day.

Pride Picnic & Skate Social (Sunday, June 14)

The Sophiasburgh Recreation Committee will host a Pride Picnic & Skate Social from 12 pm – 3 pm at the rink behind the Sophiasburgh Town Hall (2771 County Road 5, Demorestville) on Sunday, June 14.

The event is free and everyone is welcome. There will be roller skating (roller-skate rentals available), a DJ playing Pride tunes, special guest roller and dance on wheels instructor, special guest Drag Queen, outdoor lawn games, a selfie station, picnic treats, contests and prizes.

 

Bay of Quinte Regional Pride Festival (Saturday, June 20)

The Bay of Quinte Regional Pride Festival takes place at Crystal Palace (375 Picton Main Street) on Saturday, June 20. The event will take place from 1 pm – 5 pm and is a free community event where everyone is welcome. The Pride Parade will take place from 12 pm to 1 pm on Picton Main Street from Lake Street to the Crystal Palace.

 

REVEL: Celebrating Diversity (throughout June)

An annual festival celebrating diversity in the County. This year, a series of events are taking place throughout the month of June that will take you to every corner of the island.

Revel is produced by The County Museums and celebrates Indigenous Peoples Day, Indigenous History Month, and Multiculturalism Day.

Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of local Indigenous history and culture, and to celebrate diversity with the community.

June 1 – 30 – Art In Conversation: Student Responses to A Path Forward (Macaulay Heritage Park)

June 21 – Opening Through Art with Melissa Brant (A Path Forward exhibit, Macaulay Heritage Park)

June 24 – Viktoria Brave: Maison Rose – English and French tours of the Museum (Rose House Museum)

June 27 – Reconciliation Reading Group: “Theory of Water: Nishnaabe Maps to the Time Ahead” (Macaulay Heritage Park)

Wellington Street Dance & Fireworks Show (Tuesday, June 30)

The Wellington Recreation Committee is excited to continue a great County tradition, the Wellington Street Dance and Fireworks Show. The event will begin on Tuesday, June 30 at 5:30 pm with live music by Cue the Funk at 6:30 pm under the gazebo at Wellington Park (243 Wellington Main Street). The evening wraps up at dusk with fireworks at Wellington Rotary Beach (1 Beach Street).

 

Canada Day in Wellington (Wednesday, July 1)

The Wellington Recreation Committee presents the annual Canada Day parade beginning at 10:30 am. The parade will be followed by Music in the Park from 12 pm – 2 pm presented by the Prince Edward County Lions Club featuring music by Heartlight. BBQ hotdogs and water will be available by donation.

Canada Day in Picton (Wednesday, July 1)

Canada Day in Picton is presented by the Picton Recreation Committee. Come join in the fun with activities for all ages in downtown Picton from 12 pm to 4 pm. This is a Canada Day celebration for everyone! There will be live music, street vendors and fun activities for all ages, including special activities to celebrate the world’s largest soccer event coming to Canada. Everyone is welcome at this free community event. Activities will take place downtown Picton as well as at Benson Park (56 King Street).

PECelebrates activities are funded in part by the Municipality of Prince Edward County and the Government of Canada.
