Prince Edward County, ON – A new fire training facility is now operational thanks to exceptional support from many valued community sponsors and the work of Steve Everall, firefighter and project lead.

“The support from our sponsors and Steve Everall’s leadership are not just appreciated —they are vital to our mission,” says Chad Brown, Fire Chief, Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue. “We are deeply grateful for their generosity and dedication, and we look forward to their continued partnership as we enhance the training centre in the years ahead.”

The contributions from several organizations were essential in equipping the facility, located at 10 McDonald Drive in Picton, with the necessary resources for advanced and realistic firefighter training. Their generosity underscores a commitment to the safety and well-being of the community and residents.

Community sponsors of the training facility include Cedar E Farms, Burley Excavating, Dan Claxton Electric LTD, The Miller Group, Base31, Home Hardware Building Centre, Greer Galloway, C.B. Fennell, and Tomlinson.

Mr. Everall’s leadership, time, and personal sponsorship of materials were pivotal to the facility’s development. His dedication to this project reflects a profound commitment to his team and community, ensuring a state-of-the-art environment for training our first responders.

Since the training facility opened, PECFR has hosted the Ontario Fire Marshal mobile live fire training unit with firefighters from three different municipalities participating in the training. PECFR has also offered a hazardous materials course on the site.
