Leave the Route Planning to Google – County Transit Is Now on Google Maps

July 29, 2026

With more buses on the road than ever before, County Transit is now making it even easier for riders to plan their trips.

Instead of trying to figure out schedules, routes, and transfers on your own, let Google Maps do the work for you. It can:

  • Tell you when to leave to catch the nearest bus;
  • Provide walking directions to your stop;
  • Show any transfers along your route;
  • Estimate your arrival time; and
  • Help you plan your trip back with a simple tap of the swap arrows.

Simply open Google Maps on your mobile device or laptop, enter your destination, select Directions, then tap the Transit icon (the little bus and train symbol). Google Maps will then show transit options using County Transit and connecting services.

Your journey doesn’t have to end in the County. A rider travelling, for example, from Picton to the University of Toronto can see their County Transit trip to Belleville, the Belleville Transit connection to VIA Rail, and their onward TTC connections in Toronto, all in a single set of directions. Instead of checking multiple schedules and websites, Google Maps can display the entire trip from start to finish in one place.

This year’s extended summer season is made possible through the municipality’s Municipal Accommodations Tax revenue. The program is also thankful for the increased support from the Lead Community Investment Partner Base31, and local sponsors including the Eddie Hotel & Farm, Huff Estates, The Lakeside, the Royal Hotel, and the Waring House. With these partnerships, service will continue through the Picton Fair and into the shoulder season, including Wellington’s Pumpkinfest weekend on October 18.

Thanks to a recent Council decision, high school students ride free on all County Transit services with valid student ID. Free transit makes it easier for young people to get to school, work, activities, and destinations throughout Prince Edward County and beyond.

Open to both residents and visitors, County Transit offers a convenient way to commute, shop, attend local events, and explore all that Prince Edward County has to offer. Everyone is welcome aboard.

The next time you’re planning a trip, open Google Maps, tap the Transit icon, and let Google Maps do the work.
