County Council is proud to relaunch the Civic Recognition Program to honour and celebrate the everyday heroes who make our community extraordinary.
“Prince Edward County is built on the quiet strength of its people,” says Mayor Steve Ferguson. “Whether it’s a young leader stepping forward, a neighbour lending a hand, or a volunteer who’s been quietly giving for years, this program is our way of saying thank you. Their stories deserve to be told, and their impact deserves to be celebrated.”
Nominations are now open. The public is invited to shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond. County Council seeks to recognize people who lift others up, bring the community together, and make the County a better place to live.
The refreshed program includes eight new award categories, clearer nomination guidelines, and a more inclusive celebration format. It’s designed to recognize individuals and groups whose contributions make a lasting difference.
Award recipients will be honoured at a special fall ceremony open to friends, family, and the public. The first celebration under the new format will take place in 2026.
Award categories include:
- Amateur Sport
- Bravery / Heroism
- Community / Service Group
- Environment / Sustainability
- Mayor’s Special Achievement
- Outstanding Volunteer
- Youth Leadership
