The municipality is partnering with the Picton Fair to provide enhanced transit services on the weekend of September 6 – 8.

Free Transportation for Senior Groups

County Transit is providing free transportation to the Picton Fair to groups coordinated through long-term care homes, retirement residences and senior communities.

Transportation is offered on Friday afternoon to encourage seniors to visit during the Fair’s quieter hours and enjoy the Women’s Institute Tea.

  • County Transit will deliver free, door-to-door service to groups of up to 16 seniors on the afternoon of Friday, September 6.
  • To book space for your group, call Quinte Transit 613.392.9640 or 1.855.283.9640. A limited number of rides are available on a first-booked, first-served basis.
  • Please note: fair entry is not included with transportation.

Weekend bus service in Picton

All residents are encouraged to use public transit to get to and from the Picton Fair. The Picton Summer Loop will operate during the fair on the following schedule:

  • Friday, September 6: 5 pm – 12 midnight
  • Saturday, September 7: 11 am – 12 midnight
  • Sunday, September 8: 11 am – 9 pm (extended hours)

The Picton Summer Loop serves 11 stops around Picton including a stop at the Fairgrounds Main Street gates. Fairgoers are welcome to avoid the congestion at the Fairgrounds by parking at municipal lots in town including King Street, Market Lane, and Macaulay Museum. Bus stops are located near each of these lots. The Crystal Palace bus stop will temporarily move to a location across from the fairground gates on Bay Street from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 8.

The Picton Summer Loop bus will visit the fairground every 30 minutes. Fares are $3.50 (each way) for adults, $2.50 for seniors and students, $1.75 for children and free for children 5 and under. Riders are reminded to have payment prepared in exact change.
