Updated schedule for sanitary sewer flushing and maintenance in Picton

October 9, 2024

October 9, 2024

The County’s sanitary sewer flushing and maintenance program began in the Picton Wastewater Collection System on October 1, 2024.

  • Sanitary sewer mains will be flushed using high pressure water and service will be conducted on pumping stations throughout wastewater collection systems.
  • Flushing will take place between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm, between Monday to Friday in the following locations. The updated schedule is as follows:
  • October 10-11, 2024: Picton Main Street from the intersection of Lake Street and Talbot Street to the Reagent Theatre at York Street.
  • Postponed Until Later Notice: All streets west of Bridge Street/Loyalist Parkway from Elk Street to Laird Lane.
  • Flushing is conducted to maintain proper operation, prevent blockages, and remove debris that can collect in the collection system. Flushing will not be conducted on private sanitary laterals.
  • Information on where sanitary sewer flushing will take place in upcoming weeks will be posted on The County’s website, X (formerly Twitter) (@Shire_Hall) and on Facebook (facebook.com/PrinceEdwardCounty).
  • While sanitary sewer flushing is taking place, customers in the immediate area are asked to keep toilet seats closed on the first and basement levels of dwellings. Splashing may occur intermittently as sewer mains are flushed.
  • Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area of flushing and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of work. Traffic control will be in place where required.
  • For more information, contact the County of Prince Edward at 613.476.2148 extension 1023, 613.962.9108 extension 1023, or info@pecounty.on.ca.
