Flashback February: Heritage Week in Prince Edward County returns February 17 – 25 with 20 events that explore The County’s rich history and heritage.
2024 marks the seventh annual Flashback February, presented by The County Museums in partnership with multiple community organizations and businesses.
“We are thrilled to once again offer a varied and exciting line-up of events taking place across The County. There’s truly something for everyone!” says Jessica Chase, Curator with The County Museums.Flashback February kicks off on Saturday, February 17 with events presented by the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (PEC Branch) and Base31. The ACO’s “Foundations, Food and Community” at Picton United Church features speakers that highlight the architectural history of the building, as well as its long tradition of hosting community events. In the evening, Base31 hosts “The November Project with Rob Horgan.” Rob will read from his grandparents’ Second World War-era love letters accompanied by original music from The Colton Sisters.

- Drop by The Waring House for winter games and wagon rides (weather dependent)
- Try and earn a spot on Escape Camp Picton’s leaderboard
- Step back into the County’s Quaker history in Wellington
- Be awed by an 800-year old clay vessel discovered at Sandbanks Provincial Park
- Head to Macaulay House for Family Day fun, including hot chocolate and Welsh cakes

- Enjoy an Evensong service in Macaulay Church

- Enrich your genealogical research by going beyond names and dates
- Take in a reading by author Jane Simpson of her latest book, Shades of Allegiance
- Learn about Richard Nixon’s secretive visit to PEC in 1957 from Dr. Thomas Harrison
- Watch vintage County home movies while enjoying cider and popcorn
- Sit down with members of the Alyea, Burris and Chase families to hear stories of their ancestors
- Stop by the Consecon Masonic Hall to meet-and-greet local heritage groups
- Explore the past, present and future of County cemeteries
- Rock out during a County Jam with more than 10 local musicians at The Waring Hall
- Sample a Taste of the South Shore, past and present, at Lighthall Vineyards
- Join J.P Longboat for an exploration of land and oral history
