Weekly Bloomfield Main Street rehabilitation report: May 22 – 28

May 22, 2026

The County of Prince Edward is rehabilitating Bloomfield Main Street from Corey Street to Wellington Street.

The project remains on schedule with work slated to be completed by mid-June 2026.

The focus of work over the past week was base coarse asphalt paving:

  • Base coarse asphalt paving took place on Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22.
  • The municipality informed the community on Friday, May 15 that paving would take place the following week and that the public should expect significant queue lengths and wait times for travelling the one lane of Bloomfield Main Street.
  • The municipality issued another notice on Wednesday, May 20 reminding the community that paving would begin on Thursday, May 21.

Additional work over the last week included:

  • Fine grading and concrete curb reinstatement was completed.
  • Sidewalk panel replacement was completed.

The following work is scheduled to take place from May 25 – 29:

  • Top coarse asphalt paving to take place on Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27. During this time, vehicle queue lengths and wait times are expected to be significant and similar to those experienced during paving this week. Noise levels may be elevated and heavy equipment will be present. Residents may notice a temporary asphalt odour in the area. This is normal and will dissipate quickly once work is complete. We appreciate your patience.
  • West end boulevards to be paved with new asphalt.
  • Maintenance hole lid adjustments.
  • Concrete boulevard removal to begin in downtown area.

Parking during construction

Throughout construction, free parking is available at the following locations:

  • Emmanual Baptist Church (240 Bloomfield Main Street, Bloomfield)
  • 257 Bloomfield Main Street, Bloomfield (seside Bloomfield Public House)
  • Bloomfield Town Hall (289 Bloomfield Main Street, Bloomfield)

Additional information

Throughout the week, single-lane closures in the active work zone will continue. All businesses along Bloomfield Main Street remain open.

Driveways may be temporarily blocked during work. The contractor will provide advance notification to residents and businesses directly impacted by temporary driveway blockages.
