Bloomfield Main Street Rehabilitation
The County of Prince Edward is resurfacing Bloomfield Main Street from Corey Street to Wellington Street in 2026. The project will also include line painting, storm sewer repairs, and concrete curb and sidewalk repairs.
Project Overview
The project involves removing the existing asphalt roadway and repaving with new hot mix asphalt. Following paving, the contractor will repaint the lines to match exactly the line markings that existed before construction.
The only underground work associated with this project are minor storm sewer repairs. Sections of storm sewers will be replaced to protect the investment of new asphalt. This work will require an excavator to dig a trench at each location. No watermain work is needed, and there are no sanitary sewers in Bloomfield.
Damaged sections of concrete curb and sidewalk will be removed and replaced where needed. The majority of required curb replacement is between Stanley Street and Wellington Street.
Project Impacts
Pedestrians:
- Pedestrian access to businesses and homes will be maintained at all times.
- Pedestrians will not be allowed to cross within the work zone. In the event that a sidewalk closure is required, signs will be installed directing pedestrians where to cross.
- During sidewalk repairs, signs will be installed directing pedestrians where to walk.
Traffic:
- Traffic may be reduced to one lane along Bloomfield Main Street at times to accommodate construction. During this time, traffic in each direction will proceed alternately as directed by flagging personnel.
- Portable variable messaging and advisory signs will be installed at numerous locations.
Deliveries:
- The municipality and the contractor will work with businesses and property managers to accommodate deliveries and loading, as well as passenger drop off/pick up.
Municipal services:
- Emergency access for paramedics, police, and fire services will be accommodated at all times.
- Garbage, green bin, and recycling collection will continue on the regular schedule.
- Where necessary, the contractor will bring waste bins to a designated location for collection and return the empty bins to the appropriate address each week.
- Residents are advised to label their bins with their address to ensure proper return.
