Community support available during extreme cold conditions

With colder temperatures forecasted for the next several days, the County of Prince Edward is reminding residents about community support options.

If you need a break from the cold, Prince Edward County library branches and community centres are available to the public during regular hours of operation:

  • Ameliasburgh Branch Al Purdy Library: 809 Whitney Road, Ameliasburgh
    • Tuesday 2 pm – 6 pm; Wednesday 10 am – 1 pm; Thursday 2 pm – 5 pm; Friday 10 am – 1 pm; Saturday 9 am – 12 pm
  • Bloomfield Branch Library: 300 Bloomfield Main Street
    • Tuesday 2 pm – 7 pm; Thursday 10 am – 4 pm; Saturday 10 am – 2 pm
  • Consecon Branch Library: 211 County Road 29, Consecon
    • Tuesday 10 am – 1 pm; Wednesday 2 pm – 6 pm; Thursday 10 am – 1 pm; Friday 2 pm – 5 pm; Saturday 1 pm – 4 pm

  • Prince Edward Community Centre: 375 Picton Main Street
    • 7 am – 9 pm, seven days a week with exceptions for ticketed events.
  • Wellington and District Community Centre: 111 Belleville Street
    • 7 am – 9 pm, seven days a week with exceptions for ticketed events.

Emergency overnight accommodations may be available when Environment Canada forecasts a temperature of -15° C or colder, or a wind chill of -20° C or colder, for Prince Edward County. If you need a place to stay overnight, please call the local Salvation Army office at 613.476.3159 and a representative will help connect you to available options.

The municipality and its community partners are monitoring community needs regarding adverse weather conditions through the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.
