The County of Prince Edward will remove the electric vehicle (EV) charger in the King Street parking lot in Picton. The removal is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 21. The charger is at the end of its useful life and is no longer serviced by the manufacturer.
- Work will take place between the hours of 8 am and 12 pm.
- The parking lot will remain open, but the work may impact some spaces in the lot.

The municipality will be installing new electric vehicle chargers at the Crystal Palace in Picton, the parking lot on Bloomfield Main Street, and the Wellington and District Community Centre. The machines are expected to be operational before the end of 2023.
The new EV chargers will be Level 2 chargers connected to the Flo charging network. These chargers are paid for through a grant from the Charged for Change Program, funded by Aviva Canada via Earth Day Canada. The Charged for Change program provides funding for Level 2 machines to be installed in communities that are under-served with electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The new Level 2 chargers are part of the municipality’s broader efforts to expand EV charging capacity across Prince Edward County.
The municipality is currently developing partnerships and securing the funding required to install multiple publicly accessible DC Fast (Level 3) chargers in the County.
