The County of Prince Edward municipal offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 1 for Canada Day.
Offices will reopen on Thursday, July 2 at 8:30 am.
Garbage and recycling collection
The garbage, green bin and recycling collection schedule will temporarily change due to the Canada Day holiday from June 29 to July 1.
There will be no collection on Wednesday, July 1. Please find your regular collection date on the left and the corresponding temporary collection date on the right. Regular collection will resume on Thursday, July 2.

Residents must have their garbage, green bin, and properly sorted blue boxes out to the curb by 7 am to ensure pickup. If your recycling collection is missed on collection day, please call 1.866.358.3560. If your garbage collection is missed, call 613.476.2148 extension 1023. Garbage bags must be tightly sealed and weigh no more than 40lbs when filled. All bags must have a visible tag. To review the Waste Management By-law, please click here.
Landfill and transfer stations
The landfill and transfer stations’ operating hours will not be impacted by the holiday and will run as scheduled Saturday, June 27, Wednesday, July 1, and Saturday, July 4.

Recreation Centres
The Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street) and the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) will be closed on Wednesday, July 1.
Both community centres and the walking track at the WDCC will return to the regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm on Thursday, July 2.
PECelebrates
A celebration of community, cultures and Canada, takes place until July 1 in Prince Edward County. Details about the PECelebrates Festival are available on The County’s website.
Featured events include REVEL: Celebrating Diversity, the Wellington Street Dance and Fireworks Show, and Canada Day celebrations in Picton and Wellington.
The County Museums
The County Museums will be closed on Wednesday, July 1.
Summer hours are as follows:
- Ameliasburgh Heritage Village (517 County Road 19, Ameliasburgh)- Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm
- Mariners Park Museum (2065 County Road 13, South Bay) – Friday to Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm
- Macaulay Heritage Park (23 & 35 Church Street, Picton) – Wednesday to Sunday 10 am – 4 pm
- Rose House Museum (3333 County Road 8, Waupoos) – Friday to Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm
- Wellington Heritage Museum (290 Main Street, Wellington) – Wednesday to Sunday 10 am – 4 pm
County Transit
County Transit will not operate on Wednesday, July 1.
