The County of Prince Edward is accepting input from residents on how the municipality could enhance recreational opportunities and create a more vibrant community.
The County wants ideas on how the municipality should spend funds that have been allocated to parks and open green spaces in the 2024 budget.
Recent provincial legislation requires municipalities to spend a certain portion of funds in their Parkland Reserve by the end of the year. The funds in this reserve come from developers who provide cash instead of dedicating parkland to the municipality. Municipalities are required to spend those funds in the same geographic area as the development.
The municipality has allotted a specific amount of money for 10 parkland projects across Prince Edward County. The public can share their ideas about the types of amenities or park features they would like the municipality to consider when spending this money in the following areas:
- Consecon Park
- Westfall Park
- Mariners Park Museum / Milford Park
- Wilkinson Memorial Park / Prinyer’s Cove Boat Launch Park
- Roblin Lake Park Improvements
- Big Island Boat Launch Improvements
- Picton Laneway & Green Space
- Athol-South Marysburgh Public School Community Access
- Jack Taylor Park
- Bloomfield Mill Pond Main Street Connection
More information on each project is available on the County’s Have Your Say website.
Staff will gather this feedback and host a second opportunity for public consultation based on the feasible ideas that were provided during this round of public consultation.
If you have questions or require further information on the engagement process, please contact the County’s Communications department at communications@pecounty.on.ca.
