Updated waste collection and landfill site schedules

December 22, 2020

The upcoming holidays will result in schedule changes for both curbside waste collection and landfill and transfer sites.

Curbside garbage, green bin, and recycling collection in Ameliasburgh Ward will occur on Saturday, December 26 instead of Friday, December 25 and on Saturday, January 2 instead of Friday, January 1. Please have your garbage, green bins, and properly sorted blue box materials at the curb by 7 am on your regular or alternate holiday collection day.

Garbage bag tags can be purchased at a variety of locations across the County when Shire Hall is closed during the provincewide shutdown. The municipality reminds you to call ahead and check if the store has bag tags in stock. For retailers that require additional bag tags to sell, please call 613.476.2148 extension 1023 to arrange for pickup.

To ensure the health and safety of collections and sort-line staff, Quinte Waste Solutions (QWS) is asking that residents who are required to self-isolate due to COVID-19 to either store recyclables until the isolation period has ended or carefully place all material into garbage bags and use their regular garbage collection day for disposal.

Municipal landfill and transfer sites

All landfill and transfer sites in Prince Edward County will be closed on Saturday, December 26 due to the statutory holiday.

The Picton site will be open on Wednesday, December 30 from 8 am – 4 pm. All landfill and transfer sites will be open on Saturday, January 2.

Household Hazardous Waste Depot

QWS is postponing operations at the Household Hazardous Waste Depot located at 75 Wallbridge Crescent in Belleville during the provincewide shutdown that begins on Saturday, December 26.

QWS’s electronic waste recycling at its Material Recovery Facility in Trenton (270 West Street) will also cease operations during the shutdown. If you have any electronic or household hazardous waste, QWS asks that you hold onto these materials until these operations are re-opened to the public.
