The County of Prince Edward has received a request for a Zoning By-law Amendment Application and Site Plan Control Application for 35 Barker Street. The proposed development would result in the demolition of the former Queen Elizabeth School and creation of a mixed-use, mixed-income housing community containing four (4) apartment buildings, with a total of 209 purpose-built rental dwelling units, of which 75 units are seniors-focused. 30% of the units are intended to be affordable rental housing. The proposal includes the development of a community hub, public park, and community garden.

The Zoning By-law Amendment Application Z16-26 proposes to rezone the subject lands from the ‘Institutional (I) Zone’ to a site specific ‘Urban Residential Type 3 (R3-xx) Zone’ to permit the new mixed-use development with site specific provisions.

The Site Plan Control Application SP-05-26 demonstrates the site-specific technical aspects of the development including servicing, access, landscaping, lighting, grading, and other site design details.
