Floating Beach Wheelchairs and Accessibility Mats
Wellington Rotary Beach is now equipped with two Mobi-Chair floating beach wheelchairs as well as Mobi-Mats to make the municipal beach accessible to all. Residents and visitors can book a Mobi-Chair for free by emailing bookings@pecounty.on.ca or by phone 613.476.2148 extension 5003.
- The municipality will provide free daily rentals from 10 am to 4 pm from July 4 to September 2, 2024
- As part of the rental, users must sign a Rental Agreement and Waiver that outlines how to use the chair safely. Click here to view the agreement
Accessible beach mats (Mobi-Mats) are also in place over the sand at the beach leading to the water; no booking is required to enjoy.
Background
Mobi-Chair users are secured in the chair with a harness to ensure their safety. The Mobi-Chair works like a wheelchair and floats in the water; however, it does require assistance from another person to use. Both adults and children can use the Mobi-Chair. Borrower Responsibilities
Mobi-Chair users must:
- Attend the Wellington Rotary Beach (1 Beach Street, Wellington) on the date of their rental to meet with staff and review the requirements
- Return the Mobi-Chair by 4 pm on the day of the rental
- Provide and use a lifejacket if they are unable to swim.
- Not use the Mobi-Chair without a support person or in unsafe weather or water conditions
- Not take the Mobi-Chair to another location outside of the main stretch of Wellington Rotary Beach.
