Floating Beach Wheelchairs and Accessibility Mats

ribbon cutting of mobi mat

Wellington Rotary Beach is now equipped with two Mobi-Chair floating beach wheelchairs as well as Mobi-Mats to make the municipal beach accessible to all. Residents and visitors can book a Mobi-Chair for free by emailing bookings@pecounty.on.ca or by phone 613.476.2148 extension 5003.

  • The municipality will provide free daily rentals from 10 am to 4 pm from July 4 to September 2, 2024
  • As part of the rental, users must sign a Rental Agreement and Waiver that outlines how to use the chair safely. Click here to view the agreement

Accessible beach mats (Mobi-Mats) are also in place over the sand at the beach leading to the water; no booking is required to enjoy.

Background

Mobi-Chair users are secured in the chair with a harness to ensure their safety. The Mobi-Chair works like a wheelchair and floats in the water; however, it does require assistance from another person to use. Both adults and children can use the Mobi-Chair.  Learn more about how the Mobi-Chair works.
