Are you interested in seeing local democracy in action? The County of Prince Edward is recruiting election officials to perform a variety of duties.
As an election official during the 2026 municipal election, you will help:
- Uphold the integrity and accessibility of the electoral process
- Ensure the municipal election is conducted in an efficient, fair, and impartial manner
Positions
Deputy Returning Officer – The Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) processes electors, revises their information and issues ballots using electronic forms and lists on a computer equipped with Municipal Voter View (MVV) software. Review the job duties.
Election Constable – The Election Constable (EC) greets, directs, and assists electors at a voting location. Review the job duties.
Revision Clerk – The Revision Clerk (RC) verifies whether an elector appears accurately on the voters list. The RC performs revisions to the voters list to add electors to the voters list or correct any inaccurate elector information. Review the job duties.
Election Assistant – The Election Assistant (EA) processes electors and issues ballots using electronic forms and lists on a computer equipped with Municipal Voter View software. Review the job duties.
Hours of work:
- Advanced Voting Day – Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 9 am to 5 pm
- Voting Day – Monday, October 26, 2026 from 9 am to 9 pm
Compensation and qualifications
The rate of pay is $18.00 to $19.00 per hour. Election officials will be paid for attending the mandatory training session.
To work as an election official, you must be at least 16 years of age or older.
We are seeking candidates who:
- are personable
- have problem-solving skills
- demonstrate leadership capabilities
- are able to communicate in effectively English (French is an asset)
- are comfortable using computers
- are able to work long shifts (up to 12+ hours on Election Day)
- are able to travel if required and hold a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle, if needed
Previous election experience is considered an asset. Please note that positions and voting locations are assigned by the Clerk’s Office.
