Information for Voters
What are the offices to be elected?
The next regular municipal election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. Eligible electors will be casting ballots for the following offices:

Who can vote?
A person is entitled to vote in a municipal election if they are a qualified elector. To qualify you must be:
- a resident of the County of Prince Edward, or an owner or tenant of land in the County of Prince Edward, or the spouse of such an owner or tenant;
- a Canadian citizen;
- at least 18 years old; and
- not prohibited from voting by law.
If you are not a resident of the County of Prince Edward, to vote for a school board trustee, you must be:
- an owner or tenant of residential property in the area of jurisdiction of the school board, who does not support any other board.
Who cannot vote?
You are prohibited from voting in a municipal election if you are:
- serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution
- a corporation
- acting as executor or trustee or in another representative capacity, except as a voting proxy
- convicted of a corrupt practice described in section 90(3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996
Voters List
The Voters List is a list of eligible electors in the County of Prince Edward. To verify that you are on the Voters List, please use the Register to Vote provincial website.
Voter Notification Cards
Voter Notification Cards (VNC) will be delivered to eligible electors early in early October 2026. Your VNC will include all of the information you need to vote, including the website to visit to cast your online vote, the ward specific voting locations for in-person voting, and your personal voter ID and PIN. If you don’t receive a letter in early October, you may not be on the list! If you did not receive a Voter Notification Card, please call Elections Headquarters at 613-476-2148 extension 1020.
Voter Identification
All electors will be required to present Proof of Identity and Proof of Qualifying Address in order to receive a ballot at their voting place. The identification must show your name and address. Photo identification is not required. A complete list of accepted voter identification can be found in O.Reg. 304/13: Voter Identification.
Voting in more than one municipality
You can be a resident elector in only one municipality.
If you own or rent property in a municipality, but it’s not the one where you live, you are a non-resident elector. You can be a non-resident elector in any other municipality (or municipalities) where you own or rent property. A spouse of a non-resident elector is also eligible to vote in in the municipality or municipalities other than the one where you live. Neither you nor your spouse qualify as a non-resident elector if you do not personally own or rent the property in the municipality.
The Voters List is a list of eligible electors in the County of Prince Edward. To verify that you are on the Voters List, please use the Register to Vote provincial website. You will need to show identity and qualifying address (A complete list of accepted voter identification can be found here).
If you are not certain whether you qualify as a non-resident elector you should check with the Clerk’s Office.
Students living away from home
If you are a student and consider your “home” to be the place where you live when you are not attending school, which means you plan on returning there, then you are eligible to vote in both your “home” municipality and in the municipality where you currently live while attending school.
Voting Methods
There are two methods of voting in the 2026 municipal elections: paper ballots cast in-person at a voting location or Internet voting from anywhere. Eligible electors will choose their preferred voting method.
In-Person Voting
Traditional paper ballot voting will be available at certain locations, dates and times. Use the What’s my Ward? Voting Location App to search and discover your ward information and assigned voting location. A list of voting locations is provided in the Voting Locations chart below.
Internet Voting
The County of Prince Edward passed By-law No. 12-2025, under the authority of Section 42 of the Municipal Elections Act, authorizing the use of Internet voting as an alternative voting method. Internet voting will be continuously available during the Advanced Voting Period and on Voting Day. Internet voting is a complement to traditional paper ballots. Voters will have the ability to cast their ballots online from anywhere during the voting period from their personal smart phone, computer or tablet.

This guide provides information to voters for the 2022 municipal and school board elections. The information also applies to any by-elections that may be held during the 2022- 2026 council and school board term.
The post-election report on the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election fulfills the legislative requirement in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (the Act) to make public a report about the identification, removal and prevention of barriers that affect electors and candidates with disabilities.
